Julie Kuniyoshi, M.D., M.S.

Internal Medicine

As an associate clinical professor at the University of California, Irvine, internal medicine specialist Julie Kuniyoshi, M.D., has helped train the physicians of tomorrow. In 2006, the UCI Medicine Residency Program honored her as “Attending Physician of the Year.” And even though she recently left the medical school to start her own private practice, Dr. Kuniyoshi will continue teaching as a volunteer member of the UCI faculty. Dr. Kuniyoshi originally began her career as a hospital dietician, but decided to go to medical school so she could do more for her patients. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine and managing such conditions as cholesterol, hypertension and osteoporosis. Patients find Dr. Kuniyoshi to be very warm and personable.

Professional Qualifications

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Kuniyoshi received her medical training at the University of Hawaii John Burns School of Medicine. She completed both her internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Kuniyoshi also has a master’s degree in nutrition from Boston University.

Personal Interests

Dr. Kuniyoshi and her husband are both from Hawaii. They enjoy taking their daughter back home to visit family— and to swim, kayak and fish. Dr. Kuniyoshi is a recreational biker, and highly involved with her daughter’s many activities.
